Travel and Accommodation
To help you make the most out of your trip, please find our travel tips below:
Where to stay
We recommend you stay in Bergamo, which is located in northern Italy, only 20 minutes from the venue. We will be providing transport to and from the venue on Saturday 25 May.
We will be staying in Bergamo's upper city (Città Alta) for the long weekend. There are loads of small hotels B&Bs and Airbnbs in Città Alta, with the same and some bigger hotels in Città Bassa.
Getting to Bergamo
Milan Bergamo airport (Orio al Serio Airport), is only ~5 kilometres away from Bergamo, making it a convenient option for European flights. Travel time from Orio al Serio Airport to Bergamo city centre by bus (which runs every 30 mins) or taxi is typically around 15 to 20 minutes.
Milan's main airports—Malpensa and Linate—are primary entry points for those coming from further afield and approximately 90-100 kilometres away from Bergamo. Travelling from Malpensa or Linate airports to Bergamo by train or bus takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, or about 1.5 hours in a taxi (note taxis in Italy are expensive, costing ~100 euros for this one way trip).
If renting a car for exploring Bergamo and its surroundings, please check parking is possible at your accommodation - Città Alta is made up of narrow cobbled streets, with parking generally only for permanent residents.
Getting around Bergamo
Getting around Bergamo is simple and convenient. The city offers an efficient local bus network that connects the historic upper town (Città Alta) with the modern lower town (Città Bassa) and surrounding areas. Taxis are readily available for shorter trips or convenience. Walking is a delightful option within the compact city centre. Lastly, the funicular railway smoothly transports visitors between the upper and lower towns, providing scenic views along the way.
